Closing charging gaps between Arizona communities and making long-distance EV travel easier and more reliable.

Encouraging practical charging opportunities at workplaces, hotels, attractions, businesses and community destinations.

Arizona's Charging Network Is Growing
The Arizona Department of Transportation is implementing the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program to expand reliable DC fast charging along Arizona's designated Alternative Fuel Corridors. The program is being rolled out in multiple phases.
Interstate Highways
Arizona's first NEVI phase focuses on interstate corridors. Construction began in early 2026, with the first stations expected to begin operating in 2026.
State & U.S. Highways
Conditional awards for Phase 2 were announced in June 2026. These locations expand the network beyond Arizona's interstates, with construction expected to begin in 2027.
Continued Expansion
ADOT anticipates issuing its Phase 3 Request for Proposals in late summer 2026, continuing the expansion of charging infrastructure along Arizona state roads.
What Does a NEVI Charging Station Provide?
Arizona's NEVI-funded corridor stations are being developed to provide reliable, high-speed charging that EV drivers can depend on while traveling across the state.
Arizona is set to receive $76.5 million in federal NEVI funding. Stations are funded through an 80% federal contribution and a 20% private-sector match, with private companies constructing, owning and operating the sites.

Arizona's EV charging strategy is designed to close major gaps between communities and create dependable charging corridors throughout the state.
The network began with Arizona's interstate highways and continues to expand onto additional U.S. and state highways through designated Alternative Fuel Corridors.
