Breathe Easier: Free Air Quality Sensors Through the American Lung Association and DRIVE Electric Arizona
by John S Martinson, Co-Founder and President, DRIVE Electric Arizona
Air pollution doesn’t just cloud our skies—it threatens our lungs, our health, and our future. That’s why DRIVE Electric Arizona is proud to be a participating partner in the American Lung Association’s “State of the Air: Burden Report” initiative (Lung.org/AZ-climate)—a powerful program that shines a light on the unequal health burden of air pollution across communities and empowers local residents with tools to take action.
The Burden of Bad Air
According to the American Lung Association’s Burden Report, nearly 4 in 10 Americans live in areas with unhealthy levels of air pollution. The health consequences—especially for children, seniors, and those with asthma or other respiratory conditions—are severe. In Arizona, communities of color and low-income neighborhoods often bear the brunt of these impacts, despite contributing the least to pollution.
Free PurpleAir Monitor — Limited Supply!
To help track and combat air pollution at the local level, DRIVE Electric Arizona is partnering with the American Lung Association to provide free PurpleAir air quality monitors to residents who want to join the movement for cleaner air.
These small, Wi-Fi-connected sensors let you monitor your air quality in real time, right from your phone or computer—so you can take control of the air you breathe.

Why We’re Involved
At DRIVE Electric Arizona, we believe clean transportation is not just a climate solution—it’s a public health imperative. Reducing tailpipe emissions through widespread EV adoption can drastically cut the pollutants that worsen asthma, heart disease, and other chronic health problems.
Together with the American Lung Association, we’re working to:
Raise awareness of air pollution’s health impacts
Empower communities with data and tools
Accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles across Arizona
Let’s drive the future and breathe easier—together.
